About me

At times in our lives we may become stuck or overwhelmed.  You may, or may not know why.  Counselling can be an opportunity to talk with someone who is trained to listen, someone not involved in your situation, someone who can hear and accept you and maybe help you understand what it is you need to move forward.

I have always had a great love and interest of working with, and listening to, people.  In addition to my private practice, I have over 17 years experience working within various organisations including the voluntary sector and Managing a Counselling service for Young People.

I consider myself an Integrative Counsellor with my roots firmly embedded in my Person Centred Core training.  I often work creatively offering use of many tools that may help you get a better understanding of what you need.  If sitting in a room talking is not for you - I also offer walk and talk - which in itself offers a different experience.

My aim as a Counsellor is:
To offer a safe and confidential environment
To listen to you without judgement
  To encourage a therapeutic space
To help you explore and understand what is going on for you

With more understanding, and by working together, Counselling could help you find a way forward.

Everyone is different. There are no minimum or maximum number of sessions. YOU decide what you need. You may want to meet weekly, fortnightly, monthly, whatever works for you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
