About me

Feeling down, anxious, stressed, angry or confused?  Do you have something you would like to talk  about in a relaxed, confidential, impartial and non-judgemental setting?

Welcome to True to Self Counselling,  a private face-to-face or online counselling service.

I provide you with the opportunity to explore your issues , to talk about your thoughts and feelings in an environment  where you are treated with respect and empathic understanding.  You will not be judged or told what to  do.  My role is to help you to become  the person that you want to be; to help you make choices or changes that you want to make or to come to terms with things that can’t be changed to make life  more tolerable.  The aim is to put you back in control of your life.

The first session will be about trying to identify the  issue(s) that you would like to work on and to see if we both feel we can work  together.  It is your decision how many sessions you feel that you need.  We review your progress regularly.  To get the most benefit, it is suggested that you have sessions weekly but we may reduce the frequency as you progress.  I try to be as flexible as possible to meet my clients' needs.  Sessions last for 55 minutes with 5 minutes for review and administration.  Appointments can be at a regular time each week or by mutual arrangement.

If you feel I can help you and you would like to make an appointment or you would like further information, please contact Stephanie on 07810447183. For personal safety reasons I will not accept incoming calls where the number is withheld. If you wish to leave a message on voicemail, then please leave your number and I will return your call.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
