About me

Hello, finding the way forward is not always easy. As an experienced, qualified counsellor I can offer you an assessment session to help you work out what is right for you at this time. Perhaps you need the space to talk through what you can expect from counselling and what kind of counsellor might be best to help you with your issues. There will be no obligation on you to commit to further sessions.

I am 'Relate' trained and as such I have considerable experience of Couple Counselling and Relationship issues where there are communication difficulties and relationship breakdown. Our initial session is an opportunity for each person to speak and to be listened to so we can work out a way forward based on your needs. I welcome couples from traditional or same sex relationships.

I specialise in personal and relationship work with individuals, couples and young people and I will help you to gain a clear overview of your current situation and to plan a way forward for you tailored to your needs. I offer your initial assessment at the special rate of half price.

I have worked with clients on issues such as anxiety, depression,  anger, conflict, bereavement, loss, abuse, self harm, low self esteem and relationship breakdown.

When something is really troubling, it can be tough to talk about this with friends and family for a variety of reasons. Counselling offers a clear space and a chance to step back from your situation so you can work out what your choices are. Sometimes you don't know where to go for help; I am here to work with you honestly, without judgement and with confidentiality assured.

A qualified and professional counsellor, I offer short and long term personal and relationship counselling in a comfortable therapy centre with easy access and good parking. I have around 20 years years experience of clinical practice with a variety of clients with a respected charity and I am qualified to MA level and a fully accredited member of the professional body, the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  I am also a fully qualified counselling supervisor.

After the initial consultation we can decide together the best route for you to take, should you wish to continue seeing me we can agree a number of sessions to begin with or we can take it on a week by week basis. If that is not the best option for you at this time we can discuss other modes of counselling or support that may be open to you.

I offer you a free initial phone call to discuss your issues and to answer any questions you may have. If you decide to go forward, counselling can be face to face, by video link or telephone.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
