I gained my professional experience as lead counsellor and later clinical lead assistant at Newport Community Counselling Clinic at University of South Wales in Caerleon and number of community venues across Newport. I am experienced in providing therapeutic interventions to clients presenting mild to severe psychological difficulties (anxiety, depression, personality disorders, addictions, trauma, loss, bereavement and low self esteem) from various backgrounds: carers, BME communities, asylum seekers/refugees and victims of domestic abuse. I have understanding of specific challenges when working with clients representing different age groups: young people, adults and senior citizens. As a research associate I took part in number of research projects by collecting and processing data about counselling interventions and their usefulness in therapy including MA research about using cognitive behavioural interventions with elderly clients. I am currently employed as clinical consultant at South Wales Counselling and Psychotherapy Service at University of South Wales in Newport. I offer brief therapy tailored from Cognitive -Behavioural approach (4-6 sessions) as well as long term counselling depending on individual preferences and circumstances which emphasizes the importance of therapeutic relationship in facilitating client's change. Since September 2015 I have been providing clinical supervision to other practitioners and organizations including University of South Wales and University of Aberystwyth.
