I specialise in relationship counselling for individuals and couples. Most of the difficulties and worries in life can be managed if everything is alright at home but if your relationship isn't going well it can make everything else so much harder to deal with. If you're concerned about your relationship, couples counselling can help.
People come for counselling for many reasons and with a range of relationship issues. These might include affairs and betrayals, loss of sexual contact, rows, or just not feeling connected as a couple anymore. Anxiety and depression can be a cause of relationship difficulties or be caused by them. Whatever the reason, counselling sessions with me provide safe time set aside for you to consider what has been happening in your relationship and to think about what you want to do about it. Whatever you talk about in the sessions remains confidential and you can come for as many or as few sessions as you want or need.
At the first meeting you can tell me about what’s concerning you and we can think together about whether counselling is the best way forward. If we agree that it is, we can decide together the frequency of sessions and appointment times. Counselling is usually on a weekly basis and at the same time each week but don’t worry if that’s not possible for you. I can be flexible. I have morning, afternoon and evening appointments available on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursdays.
Many couples come together for appointments, but counselling can still be helpful if your partner doesn’t want to join you. Often couples are able to improve their relationship through counselling and it's most likely that this will be so for you, but sometimes during counselling couples decide to separate and if that's the case, counselling can help those couples part in a more amicable and constructive way.
Many of my clients tell me at the end of counselling that they have found it helpful because it has enabled them to talk about relationship issues that they haven’t been able to take up together before, or have not been able to talk about in a constructive way. Couples counselling may not be a quick fix, but it is a way of getting to the bottom of things, resolving differences and moving on. If you'd like to discuss coming for counselling, call or email me to book your first appointment, or a free 15 minute telephone consultation.
I look forward to hearing from you and working with you.
