If you are experiencing difficulties in your life at the moment, whether they are caused by here and now challenges, or by the effects of events that happened long ago, it can be important to look for the right counsellor or psychotherapist to help you make sense of what is happening and find a way through.
I am committed to creating a safe and welcoming space where you can explore whatever is going on for you, in a way that will match with your personal individual style of being in the world. Your sense of your emotional and psychological experience is unique to you, and I will work with you to enable you to find the resolution that fits. However painful the situation is, there will be an answer and a pathway that is right for you, and my role is to support you in finding it. I believe that it is possible not just to survive these awful times, but also to discover resources for living more fully. My clients often talk of "finding more of myself" as we work to gain new viewpoints, to develop more effective strategies for dealing with the issue, and to let go of old and painful memories that have been life limiting.
I am a qualified psychotherapist with over 20 years experience of offering counselling and psychotherapy in Leeds. I bring a range of perspectives, skills and approaches to my work with people from all walks of life who are struggling with challenging life events, feeling hopeless and despairing, or anxious and stressed. I enable individuals and couples to understand what is happening to them, discover the origins of the problem and create ways of resolving the issues involved. Often my clients find that they become stronger and more resilient having worked through these processes, and feel that they have found new depths to their satisfaction with life.
I work with individuals and couples, and offer appointments during the daytime and in the evenings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed my 4 year psychotherapy training in 1999, qualifying as a Certified Transactional Analyst, and registering with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) as a psychotherapist.
Since then I have completed several other trainings including the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) which I offer as part of my practice especially for clients who are resolving traumatic memories.
I completed my Masters in TA Psychotherapy in 2008.
I have worked in private practice since 1995, and now combine my client work with training and supervising counsellors and psychotherapists.
