About me

My name is Babs and I help people across Berkshire and West London to work through their problems and lead happier lives. I am a professional, qualified counsellor but I’m also a mother, daughter, sister, wife and neighbour. I know that talking with someone without fear of judgment or prejudice can be a massive help which is why I chose to train as a counsellor.

It can be a daunting prospect to approach a stranger about personal issues; I can offer you a safe, non-judgmental space where, together, we can explore whatever anxieties you may have. Through my interventions I hope to help you gain insights and clarity into the issues that are troubling you so that you’re able to make your own informed decisions. I will support you in the decisions you decide to make.

In my experience, it’s always good to talk but sometimes it is not easy putting our innermost thoughts and feelings into words. For those times, I can help by finding other ways for you to express yourself, such as through writing, drawing, painting, drama and dreams. When we work together, we’ll do it in the way that you feel most comfortable with because each one of us is unique. We all see our world through a different lens and I believe that through these differences, we are able to help each other lead a more enjoyable and fulfilling life.

I am a BACP Accredited registered counsellor and my approach is all centered on you, rather than taking you in some pre-determined direction. I also work holistically, which means I work with you, the whole person - mind, body and soul.

Life is full of challenges and problems and if you’d like to talk about yours in a safe, empathetic and non-judgmental environment, feel free to call me and we can chat.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I have a passion in helping people make sense of their thoughts and feelings. Having worked in a school environment I have gained invaluable insight to the issues facing our youth. I strongly believe that counselling can help make lives less stressful allowing each of us to reach our true potential.

I have a particular interest in cross-cultural counselling. My own earlier experiences of trying to navigate life between two different cultures was often confusing and traumatic. As a result, I have built up a wealth of direct experience and have helped people of all ages overcome cultural pressures to leading a more fulfilling and positive life.

Also I believe whatever turmoil you are going through at the moment, be it death of a loved one, divorce, abuse, addiction, relationship issues or physical/ mental ill health talking through things with a person who genuinely cares can be a profound experience.
