About me

Psychotherapy, Counselling, and Supervision Services in Braunton, near Barnstaple, Devon

I am a professionally qualified and experienced Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, drawing on Transactional Analysis (TA), Relational and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches.  I offer individual and couple counselling and psychotherapy from my practice in Braunton near Barnstaple, Devon. I am a member and accredited to both BACP, ACC, and I am committed to their Ethical Code of Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am fully insured and continue my personal and professional development in order to deepen my self-knowledge.

Counselling and Psychotherapy are invaluable in treating any crisis situation, management of stress, grief and trauma, relational problems and emotional or psychological problems that may be in the way of your goal to get the best out of life.
I have experience of working with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, with men, women and couples from diverse backgrounds.

My approach aims to provide you with the means to come to an understanding of your difficulties and how they can be overcome.  Additionally, the therapeutic work is focused on utilising and enhancing your particular strengths and developing the  potential that lie dormant in you.  Therapy is designed around you as a individual.

What I bring to the therapeutic relationship is warmth, compassion, a non-judgemental attitude, and genuine respect for you, and a safe environment for you to tell your story in your own words.  I offer a willingness to share your therapeutic journey, enabling you to reach the goals you have set out to achieve.

My respect and belief in the client's ability to make a positive change are the cornerstone of the way I work.

I take referrals from GP's, EAP's, and Individuals. I offer both time-limited and longer term therapy, also offering variations in frequency of sessions,  once the therapeutic relationship is established.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
