Welcome to my Counselling Profile.I imagine that you are reading this because you, or someone you know, needs help understanding or coping with difficult times. Under these circumstances, I know that choosing a therapist can be a real source of anxiety. The most important thing, I believe, is that you meet with someone who you can get on with and trust.
I hope that this webpage will give you some sense of me as a person, as well as clear information about my approach and my training. My counselling service will provide you with a regular time and space to talk about your problems and feelings in a confidential and dependable environment. I am an experienced and fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
How can Counselling & Psychotherapy help you? Many people go through times when they find their lives overwhelming or distressing. This may be due to anxiety, depression, postnatal depression, bereavement, illness, addictions, family issues, relationship issues or breakdown and so on. They may find it hard to cope or not have the resources to deal with the problem. Counselling can help them to retain their self-sufficiency, build better relationships and help them to make and act on their choices.
Counselling means different things to different people. It is not a get well quick option, offering quick answers, but is asking the person to engage in a process and an exploration. There are many definitions of counselling. A simple version is that counselling is a working relationship where the client is helped to manage what is happening in their life and to explore their life. It is a form of psychological or talking therapy that offers people the ability to change how they live and feel. The aim of counselling is to provide the client with a more satisfying experience of life. Everyone has different needs, so counselling can be concerned with many different aspects of a person’s life.
Counselling will offer you that space to talk. It is totally confidential. Together we will sensitively work, without judgment , with total acceptance and empathy. Together we will reflect on your personal situation while working to find a way forward and find coping strategies.
While face to face sessions are preferred for best service , there may be occasions ,where due to circumstances of your commitments , that counselling by internet, email or Skype might be more suitable. I offer counselling by internet, and Skype. Please contact me to arrange this.
GP Referrals. Clients encouraged by their GP are welcome ,though clients advised by their GP can call for an appointment directly without referral also.
Industrial and Employment Assistance Counselling. I provide counselling for employees who are experiencing difficulties in their lives which can affect their ability to function in the work place setting. I work with any company, industries or employment sector , with the goal to best meet the needs of both employer and employee. Commitment to an Employee Assistance Programme(EAP) is not required. Employees will be seen, as the company allows and makes that staff member available for counselling support.
**Short and long term counselling is available .
