About us

Ask provides a non-judgemental, safe and professional counselling service for those eighteen and over dealing with universal issues.

ASK comprises of a small team of counsellors dedicated to working with you to attain the best possible quality of emotional/psychological and life experience as you the individual would choose it to be.

We work with individual self-referral, G.P's, business and organisations.

In addition to the areas indicated ASK offers its service to South Yorkshire and other locations in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, home visits are also available.

Evening and weekend appointments are available.

Research has shown that the most important aspect of achieving positive outcome is the building of a positive therapeutic relationship we value this importance and warmth and naturalness are engrained into our professional approach.

At ASK we understand that approaching counselling may not be easy, perhaps seeming daunting or confusing, To us there is no such thing as a trivial question and we will do our best to help you feel as comfortable as possible. We will value both you and your inquiry. We will not keep you waiting and confidentiality will apply from the first point of contact.

ASK uses an integrated approach to help you achieve the best possible outcome. The base of our practice is Person Centred Therapy (PCT)  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) tools may be integrated into your therapy sessions but only if this is right for you and never without your knowledge. Person Centred Therapy is a humanistic approach, known to have long term effect owing to its personal meaningfulness to the individual and is known to be positive with depression. Being non-judgemental, honest and gaining deep understanding of what your life picture means and feels like to you are engrained into this approach. CBT looks at our patterns of thought, emotion and behaviour, what works for us and what does not, and helps us to develop coping strategies for dealing with challenging and often frightening situations including phobia and panic attacks. There are times when an issue or goal may seem clear to the individual considering counselling and times when it does not. Specific aims relating to a mental health issue or life relationship as well as a feeling that something simply is not right for you are appropriate for counselling and we at ASK are here to help. If an issue is important to you it is important to us.
