Feeling sad, depressed or anxious?
Experiencing low self-esteem, shame or guilt?
Struggling with anger, irritability and frustration?
Has your life come to a halt, and you now want to overcome your stuckness and give your life a new meaning and direction?
Then i can help....
I’m an EMDR practitioner and fully qualified and experienced Specialist Psychotherapist in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) as well as its third wave approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and mindfulness. I also practise coaching, and I'm trained clinical supervisor for CBT practitioners.
Today, CBT is the most researched, evidence-based and effective psychotherapeutic approach available. Therapy can take different forms, such as being short term with its 6-12 sessions, or longer term with up to 40 sessions. My approach is tailored to clients’ needs and presentations, by incorporating a range of helpful and relevant tools and methods drawn from other psychotherapeutic modalities, as well as coaching.
As a therapist, I am BABCP accredited and hold professional membership with the BACP, and pride myself on practising to high ethical standards.
I aim to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment that enables clients to explore issues and emotional distress, by unpicking unhelpful patterns and replacing these with healthy alternatives.
My expertise lies in treating a wide range of anxiety and depressive disorders such as trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder, social phobia or generalised anxiety. Other areas of interest and experience include working with young people and their families, couples, older people, and offering treatment for more complex presentations, such as hoarding, eating disorders, impulse disorders, or chronic fatigue and pain. CBT can also be of help if you wish to support a loved one such as a spouse or child, and equip you to support them through their emotional distress.
Sessions can be conducted face to face, via telephone or Skype. By negotiation, I also offer homevisits.
At present, I run afternoon, evening and Saturday clinics in three busy central locations: Waterloo, Old Street and London Bridge.
Training, qualifications & experience
Since 2006, I have worked in various roles within NHS mental health services, alongside consultants, nurses and patients.
In 2009, I also worked for Children and Young People’s Services within a deprived London borough, delivering evidence-based treatment for children and young people at risk of offending and presenting with conduct disorder or anti-social behavioural disorder. During this period I have actively contributed to research funded by the Department of Education (DoE). Such treatment interventions are now recommended by NICE, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence for the treatment of conduct and anti-social behavioural disorder.
Since 2010, I have been delivering CBT in a number of clinical settings within the NHS. For the past year, I have been clinically supervising trainee and junior therapists.
