Arfa Begum Qualified Accredited Integrative Counsellor
Arfa Begum Qualified Accredited Integrative Counsellor( CBT, Humanistic and Psychodynamic) (NCS), Registered MBACP, Dip Therapeutic Counsellor, Level 2 certificate in Psychology, HE Health Studies, Dip Acupressure, GDC Registered Dental Nurse, Dip Oral Healthcare.
I am qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor. I am trained and very confident in my ability to apply Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), and Person Centred Therapy (PCT techniques to therapy. This also includes an awareness of psychodynamic component.
I am devoted to my responsibilities and duties with great desire to help others empathically and in accordance to needs, hence drawing on CBT, I use an integrative approach to therapy that tailors uniquely to the individual needs, circumstances and goals.
I am a registered member of BACP and accredited counsellor with NCS. I work according to BACP code of ethics and practice, which ensures that I offer a safe, confidential space where there is respect, a warm understanding and sensitive encouragement to explore your problems to help develop new ways of coping.
You can talk about anything in counselling and below are just a few of the issues people:
- Relationship Problems
- Self esteem
- Life choices
- Divorce and separation
- LGBT issues
- Loss of meaning
Whatever your problem maybe past or present. Whatever, that is affecting your life simple or complex, such as simply feeling sick or disturbing past experiences that have left you with unbearable feelings, stopping you from moving forward (More complex the better as I find complexity intriguing). I draw on many different theories in order to find a way forward.
We will be working in collaborative fashion, to find ways to either manage or overcome the issues that you bring.
Together, I hope we can develop new ways of coping with what you are experiencing.
I work on a short term (up to 8 sessions), or longer term depending on individual needs.
I provide therapeutic counselling to young people and adults.

Each session lasts 50-60 minutes and usually sessions occur at the same time each week. Every person is different and as a result each person will need a different number of sessions to work through their issues. That said the following statistics about my client work might help you to appreciate that I attempt to work in a timely manner:
As of October 2015:
90% of my clients return after an initial session.
On average my clients work for 8 sessions.
80% of my clients complete their work in 6 sessions or less
70% complete their work in 12 sessions or less.
