Archie Elvington-Hughes MA,BA (Hons) Integrative Psychotherapist Reg.MBACP
It is a difficult decision to come to counselling and it certainly isn't an 'easy option,' having had counselling myself I know the anxiety and stress that this can generate, which is why finding the right counsellor for you is important.
I am a qualified and experienced Integrative counsellor and body centred psychotherapist, and will offer you compassion, warmth and understanding without judgement. I will fully accept you as you are, and where you are in life, I will work with you at your own pace, and assist you to find your own path.
How Counselling can help
My approach is to fully accept you and your experiences without judgement, through my practice and experience, I believe that you have your own power to discover what path in life you want to be on,or which direction you want to take, and/or to understand yourself more fully, and the experiences you have and, to not be disturbed by thoughts 'that you are secretly going mad.' I will work with you to explore what it is that you are struggling with.
Through exploring your thoughts, behaviours and feelings, core beliefs may emerge that can offer new possibilities, and different options at your disposal and a new understanding of yourself and your situation can be empowering and healing.
I'm very experienced in Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity and have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills to work with people who identify as Transgender, Lesbian,Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Gender Queer and Asexual, BDSM and Kink, coming out issues, working with internalised shame and oppression, and sexual and relationship difficulties. I am currently undertaking a Post Graduate Diploma in Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity Therapy with Pink Therapy London.
Anxiety, Anger management, Abuse, Addictions, Bereavement,Depression,Parenting,Suicidal Thoughts, Trauma, Grief, Low Self-Esteem and Confidence are among some of the many areas I work with.
My practice is Integrative, experiential and I incorporate (if this is something that you would like to do) creative therapies such as the Arts.
I am also registered on The Pink Therapy website www.pinktherapy.com and please have a look at my website thecentrepath.com for more information about my experience and qualifications.
I have been studying and practising as a therapeutic practitioner since 2002 and have over twenty years experience in working with Adults, Children, Young people and Families in a professional capacity, some of my roles have included working with individuals who have survived sexual abuse and violence , working with the homeless, and charities specialising in childhood sexual abuse, counselling individuals who have suffered domestic abuse within the GSRD (Gender Sexuality, Relationship Diversity) communities and heterosexual relationships, with a special interest in parenting and Transgender issues in the GSRD communities.
I offer a mindfulness, body centred psychotherapy that works with you in the present moment, I work in a collaborative way believing that you already hold the wisdom that you need to access.
Through the process of therapy my role is to assist you in uncovering what your core beliefs are that hold the key to the emotions/behaviours, yours, and/or others that are causing you distress and suffering. This exploration will be on an equal footing
The openness, honesty and ability of the therapist to connect on a deep level with another human being is fundamental for the process of therapy to work, be assured that you will be in safe, kind and compassionate hands.
