About me

Need someone to talk to?

Are you having personal problems that leave you feeling hopeless and alone and feel you need support in your time of difficulty or crisis? Then counselling can give you the opportunity to discover ways to make changes that are meaningful in your life. I am a warm, open, approachable person who believes passionately that talking therapy gives you a place to explore your problems and to begin to change whatever is troubling you by helping you gain clarity whilst developing potential coping strategies.

I understand that deciding to begin your counselling journey can be a difficult step.
I will offer you a confidential and non - judgmental environment to explore current difficulties that might be troubling you. We will work at your pace to explore your thoughts and feelings which may have been hidden for years. I offer short and long term therapy depending on your needs and choices.

My approach

I qualified as a Person Centred counsellor and have had further training and interest in Psychodynamic therapy. I am a very experienced counsellor with over 17 years of experience. I have extensive experience working with clients suffering from issues such as work related stress and anxiety, personal identity questions including sexuality, domestic violence, relationship problems, mental health concerns and issues of drug and alcohol etc. My work has also included counselling in a hospice working on such issues as bereavement and loss.

Experience and qualifications

I am a fully qualified Person Centred/Psychodynamic Counsellor and registered member of the professional body, British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I adhere to their professional code of ethics and practice.

I work with clients with a wide variety of issues using both short and longer term models. EAPs welcome.

As well as working in private practice I have also worked at the charitable counselling organisation.

How we will proceed.

We will Initially meet to have an assessment. This will give you the chance to voice any problems or concerns that are troubling you. It will enable us to think together about and formulate a focus to our work. We will work together to help you make the changes you want and find a positive way forward in the future. Exploring how your issues may be impacting on your life will help you find a more positive way of being.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
