About me

My name is Anthony and I offer face-to-face and secure online and telephone counselling & psychotherapy. The consulting rooms are located in Cheltenham town centre, close to Sandford Park Lido and Cheltenham General Hospital.

I work integratively (person-centred, relational psychodynamics and intersubjectively) which I can explain when we meet. Each session lasts for fifty minutes. I only work on a weekly basis as I've found this to be the most effective. Duration is different for everyone and expectations can be discussed at our first session.

The heart of our work together will be a therapeutic relationship made up of warm acceptance, trust and non-judgement. We will explore whatever matters most to you and seek to make sense of it in ways that will hopefully be beneficial.

I have a special interest in childhood neglect, boarding-school, faith-based concerns, pregnancy loss, psychosis, hearing voices and loneliness as well as anxiety, depression and grief. However, anything can be brought to counselling.

Before being a counsellor I was a Copy, Design and Print Production Manager. In 2011, I began volunteering with Samaritans and later at MIND which culminated in me becoming a qualified counsellor. I then became Lead Counsellor for the Newport Community Counselling Service (NCCS) and later Lead Counsellor at the South Wales Counselling & Psychotherapy service (SWCAP) before setting up Wingfield Counselling.

I am a Registered and Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by their Ethical Framework which can be found at www.bacp.co.uk

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
