Profile
I believe in working with my clients to achieve positive change. When people experience stress and trauma in their lives it can be difficult, sometimes, to step back and look at issues objectively and with a clear mind.
Life can challenge us all with issues such as depression, bereavement, addiction, low self-esteem and relationship problems. Our reactions to events such as these, and a host of others, can be self-defeating or even self-destructive; but they are often normal responses to abnormal situations that need to be evaluated and understood before they can be overcome.
As an integrative counsellor it is my role, in collaboration with my clients, to help them get to a point where they feel able to manage situations that are causing distress and unhappiness. Being integrative means that I have been trained to employ a range of counselling theories in order to help clients who are, after all, unique individuals with diverse stories to tell. Clients may want to come to terms with the past, deal with negative thought processes, or examine the way they communicate with significant people in their lives.
This process will take place in a safe, comfortable and confidential environment in which clients will feel respected and not judged.
