About me

It takes courage to take that first step to see a counsellor, you may be feeling a bit stuck or perhaps finding life a bit overwhelming right now.

I offer a safe, confidential space to work through what is troubling you, to explore what has brought you to this place today.

A calm, discreet, non-judgemental and confidential space, to speak freely and openly. Counselling offers an opportunity to "say it as it is for you" and from there you will develop renewed self-awareness, enhanced resilience and balance with strategies to move forward in your life. Allowing new possibilities to emerge and the changes you want to take place at your pace.

Personal and private issues can be difficult to express to friends and family, our work will help you move towards accepting and supporting yourself without fear of judgement.

With increased self-esteem, you will be able to live more assertively and feel calmer when dealing with challenging people and situations.

With new insight and self-awareness, you will learn how to manage your wellbeing outside the therapy room. Learning to understand your stressors and how they impact on life is empowering.

Alongside my private practice, I facilitate national support groups and wellbeing workshops for "Breast Cancer Now" and two day evidence based retreats " Living Well" with cancer at a National Cancer Support Centre. I’m also a Counselling Supervisor in Private Practice and for Cruse counsellors a national Charity for Bereavement support. I teach mindfulness and integrate that into my counselling practice if helpful for clients.

I also work in the NHS as a staff support counsellor for a London Medical School Hospital dealing with a range of life and work issues.

I am an Accredited Counselling member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My Counselling Approach

I am professionally trained in Integrative counselling approaches, incorporating person centred and psychodynamic therapies. I have also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT), EMDR Therapy, Mindfulness and Executive Coaching. I tailor my counselling work to suit each client’s individual needs.

Issues I work with

Overwhelm, feeling sad, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, stress, bereavement, loss and unhealthy relationships. I find the issues clients bring to counselling are as individual and unique as they are.  During and post pandemic, I have worked with stressors related to working from home, relationships, anxiety and loneliness.

I work a lot with life transition, stressors related to health, job changes, retirement, relationships, weddings, divorce, separation, menopause, becoming a new parent, relocation to a new area, university life, career or work situations etc.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
