Hello, my name is Annette. I am a qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist and have offered my counselling services for over 15 years to people from all walks of life.
Throughout my life I have travelled extensively and lived in four countries, thus giving me the privilege of meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds.
As a 'people person', I am dedicated to helping those who feel unable to cope with problems in everyday life that make them feel depressed, isolated and feel as if there is no hope of a solution to their situation.
I offer counselling in a safe and private environment in which clients are invited to feel at ease and relax away from the stresses and anxieties of everyday life.
It is important to me that my clients know that they will be accepted by me as a valued person, and be treated with total trust and unconditional positive regard with no fear of being criticised, rejected or misunderstood.
I take pride in implementing a personally tailored approach suited to the individual and the aims that they wish to achieve as they take steps to fulfil their potential in order to change their life for the better.
My listening skills are essential in allowing my client to be “heard” while I explore with them and unravel the layers of their problems at their own pace and when they feel ready to do so.
Training, qualifications & experience
1994 Nottingham University Introduction to Counselling Course.
1995 Nottingham University Introduction to Counselling Course.
1996/7 Nottingham University Certificate in Counselling
I have over 15 years experience in counselling.
When a relationship breaks down this can have a devastating effect not only on the couple concerned but also for their families. All kinds of problems and emotions are borne out of this separation such as feeling, the 'loss' of the partnership, lonliness, more responsibility, guilt, anger, lack of confidence and low self esteem, money worries, depression and anxiety are only a few of the negative emotions one generally feels.
As a single parent I too had experienced all the emotions of a breakdown and after receiving counselling I started to evaluate situations and was able to make firm and precise decisions in a more effective way. A whole new world opened up for me. I had got my self worth and confidence back. I felt positive about life in general and made new friends. I was happy once again and coping well. I was so in control of my life and passionate in helping others that I studied and became a Counsellor.

VICTIMS OF CRIME COUNSELLING
I fully understand also the difficulties faced by anyone who has been a victim of crime. Having worked in criminal law am conversant with the procedures of the judicial system and understand how daunting it is for anyone to enter a courtroom either as a witness, a victim or otherwise and speak openly about personal and painful experiences.
