Anne Thompson (Registered BACP member)
158 Skene Street
Hi my name is Anne and I offer an all-encompassing counselling service for all individuals facing difficulties and uncertainties in their lives. The offering of space and time in a safe and confidential environment to talk and explore difficult life events, intense feelings and overwhelming emotions which can sometimes leave us feeling lost, confused, stuck and unable to cope.
I can work alongside you on whatever troubles or problems you may be experiencing to feel heard, understood and less alone. By looking at and dealing with your difficulties together you can start to create healthier relationships with yourself and others, feel more in control and have better coping strategies helping you to move forward and allow for change to take place.
Training, qualifications & experience
In 2005 I graduated with a psychology degree this was followed by the completion of a postgraduate person centred counselling degree in 2011. I have worked for the past five years providing counselling and support for a wide range of clients and families within a counselling organisation where I have gained a deeper level of knowledge and experience in person centred counselling, cognitive behavioural techniques, motivational work and crisis intervention. I have attended many training courses over the years with extensive training and knowledge in addiction, emotional health and mindfulness.
Prior to my counselling journey I was a beauty therapist. I feel counselling and beauty therapy often interlinked with each other. It's about working with the whole person. Its about offering a space to heal, recharge and take care of yourself. Your mind and body is one. Althernative therapies such as massage, facials and aromatherapy help to deal with not only physical but also psychological and physiological elements too.

Each person is individual so each client will need and want different things. Some people may find a one off counselling appointment is all they need whereas the next person may require a longer term counselling service. What you want and need can change over time and we can adapt to your needs if and when need be.
First appointment is 1 hour and 15 minutes: The first 15 minutes will be going over confidentiality, completing client record card, discussion of what you can expect from the sessions and time for you to ask any questions about the sessions. This will then be followed by 1 hour counselling session.
Each counselling session is just under 1 hour: for individuals the price is £40.00
Couple counselling: £45.00
I can also provide telephone and email support.
I always try to respond to enquires about counselling and appointments as quickly as possible.
