About me

Hi, my name is Anne-Marie and I am an MBACP registered counsellor working with young people aged 13 years and older, couples and individual adults.  I qualified as a Psychodynamic Counsellor to work with adults and then trained with Place2Be, the children's mental health charity, working with children in schools.  I have worked in both primary and secondary schools as a School Counsellor, supporting children and adolescents with various emotional and mental health issues.  More recently I completed my training with OCN London to work with Children and Young People from the age of 5 years old.  I have also trained as a Couples Counsellor, helping both parties to resolve issues in their relationship, together.

There may be times in our life when we experience overwhelming, emotional feelings and we find things tough for us to deal with.  At times like this counselling can help you move forward and help cope with these difficult times.  I offer a safe, confidential and non judgmental environment for you to share your thoughts and feelings.  I aim to help you understand what is going on for you emotionally and work with you to find a way forward.  I work with adolescents, young people and adults on a one to one basis, and couples together, offering open ended and time limited counselling.

For many years I have worked with children & young people, individual adults and couples both in private practice, schools and for three charitable organisations.  I have been a listening volunteer with the Samaritans since 2009 and work for the Lucy Rayner Foundation as an Early Intervention Counsellor, supporting young people in times of crisis whilst they may be waiting for further treatment.

My private practice is based in Redhill where I work Monday - Thursday, offering daytime and evening appointments.  I am in easy access of a bus stop, offer off road parking and wheelchair access.  Sessions last for 50 minutes for individuals and 75 minutes for couples, once a week.

Please feel free to contact me so that we can discuss your child's or your needs and how counselling may be able to help you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
