I have a very straight-forward approach to counselling: to see my clients move beyond the difficulty they currently experience to a way of life that feels better than they imagined. I don’t do the hard work – you do – that is why we can expect the results to be long term rather than short lived. My role is to support and challenge you through your own process of understanding, healing, re-building and change. I often work with clients who have experienced counselling before and have made a decision to get to the bottom of what has troubled them. I want you to gain the maximum long term results from the time and energy you invest in yourself. My client base tends to be 50% women and 50% men, and covers all ages and issues.
I work in extended sessions of 65 minutes (rather than the usual 50 minute ‘counselling hour’) as clients have found them to be more effective. On many occasions insight develops towards the end of the session and the extra time allows us to explore this insight before we break for the week ahead.
After one session you will know if I am the right person for you or not. I strongly recommend that you choose your counsellor carefully, the relationship you build is essential to effective therapy so you need to make sure that you are comfortable with your counsellor and feel that they have the ability and personality to work with you effectively.
