Anne Branson, BACP Accredited and experienced ex NHS professional psychological therapist and specialist counsellor, Offering counselling and psychotherapy to individuals. Also ex- RELATE Couple Therapist And NHS couple and family counsellor for Isle of Wight NHS. Professionally registered and Accredited with the BACP, accredited with the Association for Family Therapy (AFT), and accredited with the NCS; I specialise in individual counselling and psychotherapy, and I see couples experiencing difficulties in their relationship.
I work from centrally located confidential counselling rooms in Old Portsmouth and Southsea.
An ex RELATE therapist, I am used to working with couples of all orientations and with families.
Alongside my individual counselling and psychotherapy and couples and family therapy practice, I also facilitated the Isle of Wight NHS Couples Counselling and Family Therapy clinic in secondary Mental Health care, taking referrals from mental health teams, Psychiatry and GPs.
I also have experience through working with couples and in schools with RELATE, and have worked in many different settings including the Isle of Wight NHS Acute Mental Health team, Women's Refuge, young persons counselling agency, rape centres, bereavement agency, drug and alcohol service, private practice, Barnardo's, Older Person's service, and providing individual counselling for general issues. I'm also a fully trained EMDR therapist.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling from Roehampton University and an Advanced Post Graduate qualification (RELATE linked) in Couple Counselling and Systemic Family Therapy from Hull University.
I am registered and Accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP Accred), Association for Family Therapy AFT(Accred), the Isle of Wight Association for Family Therapy (IWAFT), Accredited with the National Counselling Society (NCS Accred), hold professional registration with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP), I am a Clinical Member of the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA) who are an organisational member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and I am registered with what was the UKRCP, now the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care and this provides assurance to clients that I offer good quality care. This is the Counselling equivalent to being registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
I am also a fully qualified EMDR therapist specialising in working with trauma.
What does all this mean? You can be sure that I have studied hard to be able to offer a friendly yet professional counselling service to individuals, couples of all orientations, and families with difficulties emerging in relationships. I have worked in many arenas with clients of different levels of problems and able to offer as helpful a therapeutic intervention as you would expect from any therapist.
In short, I have long experience in working with clients at all levels and offer a full, evidence based couples, family and individual counselling and psychotherapy service.

My fees are £50 hourly for all counselling and family work, and I offer three subsidised places at any one time for those on low income. Please don't hesitate to call me to discuss.
My training has been extensive and my experience varied. I have also had years of my own therapy as part of my commitment to best practice.
If you and your partner are experiencing difficulties in your relationship or with the way your family members are communicating, or if you are worried about your child or children, I am most happy to meet to discuss the possibilities that family and couple therapy can offer.
There are no commitments once we have met, until you decide to come along. I am also happy to see one partner if the other is hesitant about entering therapy.
