For individuals I specialise in treating all kinds of trauma using the scientifically proven technique EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing). (For more click on my website). Over 300 studies have been published showing EMDR to be effective for treating depression, anxiety, phobias, addictions, body dysmorphia and other mental health issues.

For couples and families I draw on my extensive experience as a senior family therapist facilitating family reconciliations in a leading treatment centre in Australia. I teach healthy communication as a means to dialogue about critical issues in family relationships.

I offer short-term, goal-focused treatments or in a small number of cases a longer-term treatment is recommended.
I don't have 'a one size fits all approach' but draw from my expansive toolkit to tap into what you need personally, right here and right now.

Training, qualifications & experience
I have more than 15 years' experience of teaching, training and facilitating change. My experience is recognised by my Accredited status with the BACP (Accred) and as an Accredited EMDR Practitioner (EMDR Association Australia).
I recently returned to the UK after working in one of Australia's leading treatment centres, South Pacific Private, as a senior family therapist. A former client said: "the hospital is lucky to have you", another said "you are the best" and "you are an inspiring teacher"; "it is an amazing experience to watch you guide others and be guided by you."
I am also a part time lecturer at the University of Sydney.

Many of us feel trapped in dysfunctional relationships with partners, parents, children and siblings.
It is not about a lack of love usually - or even a lack of good will - but a lack of skill. Plus an accumulation of baggage that has built a brick wall of resentment in relationships.
To help remove that brick wall I will teach healthy communication techniques like Non-violent Communication to open dialogues with your loved ones. Replaying the rows in the therapy room simply does not work.
It means you finally get the chance to say what has never been said before and restore the love in your relationship or find the courage to forge an amicable parting of the ways.
For a deep loving, conscious long term relationship, there’s Imago Therapy to help couples unravel their triggers and express their needs and heartfelt desires. Attending one of my week-long family workshops, a client wrote: "I've done loads of management training and you've been the best", while another said "this has been the best week of my life".
I create a safe and nurturing environment for you to build healthy, loving relationships.

Experience has shown me that a longer session of 90 minutes is required for effective family and couples therapy. This is to ensure that each person has a chance to speak; that there is time to spend on skills coaching, and that everyone is settled and contained before leaving the session.

Great life changes frequently unfold through the power of the therapeutic relationship. It is about you as an individual being seen, as you truly are, for the first time.
I work in an integrative way, using a variety of techniques that begin with being fully present in the moment - tapping into feelings that we can spend our lives trying to avoid.
Some of the changes come from understanding early life traumas; how our psyche is shaped through toxic shame and early abandonment.
But talking therapies don’t always reach trauma: those deeply painful experiences that can remain locked away inside, as if trapped in their own separate envelope of pain - seemingly separate from other positive life experiences. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) is a scientifically proven technique to reach such deep-seated trauma (see my website for a fuller explanation). My 9 years' EMDR experience is recognised by Practitioner status with the EMDR Association of Australia (http://emdraa.org/.)
Other changes come from challenging thought patterns that make us depressed and anxious.
It may mean delving into obsessions and addictions that have remained hidden for years, like drinking, drugs, food or a dependency on a person or a behaviour, such as overworking.
I work creatively and spiritually to support each person’s journey, sometimes by exploring dreams, art work, music, visualisations and body work.
But no one person is an island - often difficulties arise from the dynamics of different relationships whether it be with a partner, a parent, a child or a work colleague.
