About me

On the Couch is a private practice situated by Poets Walk in Clevedon where I provide a tranquil, confidential and welcoming environment so you can feel safe to talk.

At times life experiences can lead us to feel overwhelmed, my aim as an integrative therapist is to provide a professional approach that will enable you and I to explore your situation and find ways of improving it.

Therapy does not offer a miraculous cure but it does provide an opportunity to talk freely and to process your experience without judgement or worry of burdening a friend or relative. As your therapist I will focus on using counselling skills and techniques which I believe will help support our work together, this may include working creatively, writing, keeping a diary, or simply talking - it will be up to you.

Many of my clients tell me that being heard, cared for, challenged and supported has helped them to gain a deeper insight into their situation and themselves. Counselling and psychotherapy can help you to find clarity about decisions and to be more accepting of yourself.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold counselling qualifications at Foundation Degree and Diploma level 4 & 5 and I am a registered member of BACP. I train regularly covering areas including, Abuse, Anxiety, Anger Management, Bereavement, Loss and Grief, Working with Children and Young Adults, Mental Health, Working with Male Clients, Trauma as well as training in creative working.

I also have qualifications in Training and Development and Management and have a career history of over 25 years working with professionals and business identifying training needs and organising training.

Throughout my career I have been focussed on helping others to achieve their goals. In my role as a counsellor and psychotherapist I support clients through challenging times by working together to find ways that will make a difference. Building trust with my clients is a key aspect of my work, I appreciate that what is often shared, is sensitive and difficult and I offer respect and privacy in all our work.
