Ann Lee. BSc Counselling, Dip. Supervision, UKCP, BSc Nursing.NMC
We all struggle at times with current problems or problems arising from childhood.
These things can affect our daily lives, and we often need someone to talk to about them, without judgement. We cannot always talk to people close to us, through embarrassment or fear of judgement.
I offer support and help for life issues such as depression, anxiety, general anxiety disorder, bereavement, physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse, post natal depression, pregnancy related including abortion, low self-esteem, relationship issues, work issues and others.
Also support and help for things that happened in childhood or later which are still unresolved and affecting you.
An Integrated Psychotherapeutic Counsellor I use talking and creative therapies, including dream work, in both long and short term therapy.
With a Nursing and Midwifery background I can help you to cope with your and others' chronic illness or similar issues.
I also offer supervision for trained and trainee counsellors, including supervision of supervision
Training, qualifications & experience
During my work as a Nurse, Midwife and Family Planning nurse I found I was unofficially "counselling " people with issues surrounding pregnancy and birth, sometimes having to give sad news. Later I worked with a lot of people with work-related issues and marital problems. On-going daily problems leading to depression and anxiety also featured heavily.
I decided I should learn to counsel properly, to gain more tools and skills.
Over several years I obtained:
Diploma in Integrative Counselling with Barnabas Training International.
BSC in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling, with Matrix, Ipswich (Through Middlesex University).
Supervision Diploma with Matrix (Through Middlesex University)
I find now I can help people more constructively to help themselves, using the skills I obtained.
I particularly like using creative therapies, such as drawing, Inner Child work and Transactional Analysis.
I also undertake Dream work, allowing you to interpret your dreams. Dreams play an important part in helping us to play out problems occurring in our wakeful life.
Talking also plays an important part in therapy, so I integrate all that I think will help.
However this can be changed as we go if you are not comfortable with any aspect.
I undertake regular CPD, to remain updated in current thinking.
I have also continued my nursing career, and am fully updated, and able to use those skills in helping you cope with medical problems. I would not be involved in your medical or nursing care, but would have a good understanding of the problems you face.
I have worked in a local counselling charity in East London for 7 years, as well as running my own private practice in the same area. I have had clients with many different problems including depression, sexual abuse, domestic violence, self-esteem, bereavement, work issues, medical problems and other issues.
I offer supervision, and have an active supervisee list.
