About me

I'm an experienced and fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist and for the past 15 years I have worked with addictive disorders and a broad range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety disorder, relationship problems, depression and panic disorder.

Sometimes difficult experiences, decisions and life transitions can feel overwhelming. You might just be feeling unhappy or confused. It doesn’t have to reach the crisis stage before you seek help.

If you are looking for support to help with issues around anger management, addictions, trauma, work related stress, low self esteem, cancer related issues or perhaps you are unsure about what you want to bring but you know you want to feel better, then please get in touch.

I offer a counselling service which is currently only online (very convenient and flexible). If you are hesitant about online counselling vs face to face, I urge you to try it. Many people find it is equally as effective.

I offer short or long term therapy for clients with wide ranging issues, and able to work with adults and couples.

I have a keen interest in supporting Expats that are trying to adjust to UK life and from a close personal experience in 2017, I additionally work with cancer related issues.

If you've come this far, I can provide you with confidential, encouraging support through whatever it is you wish to work through. You may not even know what that is! Just that it might be time to talk to someone.

I offer an initial assessment (which in a lot of cases) ends up being like an actual session, but with me explaining how everything works, you asking questions, and then at the end, you decide if you think we’re a good fit.

Please send me an email today here.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I also provide phone and email counselling as they can be real time-savers for busy people. I have done online and phone counselling myself and I found it to be quite effective. Email counselling is good if you live in a house where you might not want others to hear your conversations.

I've worked with lots of people who have never experienced counselling before. It can be a quite scary, nervous and new experience. However, I feel, simply the release of speaking about something which you may have kept private for a long time is extremely cathartic.

My previous career was in the corporate world (15+ years), working for many years in the beer industry. I'm an American Expat having first moved to London in 2004.

One of my special areas of interest is helping Expats adjust, emotionally, with all the differences they face in the UK. I know because I faced the same challenges.

Anyone who has dealt with cancer whether it be themselves or a close family member or loved one is also an area I have great experience with.

15 years experience working with and studying addictive disorders and a broad range of mental health difficulties.

Experienced in a variety of settings; upscale recovery and counselling centres, day programs, Her Majesty’s Prisons, primary school settings, one on one practice and online counselling.
