Profile
I am a mature, BACP accredited counsellor, and use accessible counselling space in Settle. I am happy to travel within the district for home visits, from Skipton to Ingleton and Bentham. Possibility of visits in East Lancashire by arrangement.
I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am UKRCP registered. Regular supervision of my work is ongoing and I am fully insured.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
My Counselling Diploma was awarded in 2008. I gained the Certificate in Counselling in 1997.
In Leeds I trained with Turning Point to assist people with alcohol and drugs problems.
I was a Trustee for Berkshire Women's Aid and also a Buddy for someone suffering in relation to HIV/Aids. While living in Berkshire I trained with Cruse Bereavement Care and have worked for more than ten years with people with bereavement issues.
When I came back north to live in the Dales I became active in the local branch of the MS Society.
More recently I have completed the Foundation year and Year Two of Transactional Analysis psychotherapy training at Leeds Psychotherapy and Training Institute. I also attend many day courses and conferences to enliven my perspective and enhance my own development.
I have trained with the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives at Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey for more than 25 years and was a Lay Minister with the Order for many years.

Further Information
I am currently working part-time with the Counselling Service at Bradford University. I have had placements within the last five years with two Women's Centres and a GP surgery.
My work history is quite varied and includes local government, the NHS, a Housing Advice shop, an environmental charity and individual work with people with learning and physical disabilities.
My formal education was to post graduate level. I am interested in health and complementary medicine and have been active in community work and politics.
I believe that most people have within them the means to solve whatever is troubling them - they sometimes need someone to work alongside them in order to do this. I also believe that many people have never been fully listened to and that this is, in itself, a very healing process.
My interests are wide and eclectic. I love counselling work and have a wealth of life experience on which to draw. As part of my own development I am a member of a therapy group and regularly have my own personal therapy.
