About me

I'm an experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor (BAPPS) with a background in the NHS and private practice working with adults, couples and young people both in-person and online.

I work with people with a wide range of presenting problems including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, anger, drug and alcohol issues, eating and weight difficulties, and other physical, mental, and emotional health issues.

I can offer you a service if you are anxious, stressed, confused, unhappy, insecure, angry, in distress: basically, experiencing any feelings that you want help with, perhaps due to issues in your relationships, occupation, lifestyle, or because of illness, loss, bereavement, anxiety, depression, or other emotional, mental, or physical challenges.

I work within a 'psychodynamic' framework - taking into account relationships, internal and external states, present, past, and desired life experience, environment, culture and circumstances, and I use influences from other disciplines such as cognitive-behavioural, cognitive-analytical, existential, psychoanalytic and neurobiology.

I offer brief intensive counselling/psychotherapy (usually 6-18 sessions); medium-term (18-44 sessions) and long-term counselling/psychotherapy (44+ sessions). I work in-person and online, or on the phone if it is the most suitable medium.

The way I work starts with the 'here and now' of what is going on in your life, what you are unhappy or distressed about, what you want to cope with, reflect on, and/or change.

For example, you might be experiencing particular difficulties or a crisis or loss in your life, or be in a time of change or transition in relation to study, work, relationships, life-stages, self-identity and sexuality etc, or you might simply be at a time in your life when you want to reflect on it.

If you do not understand why you feel the way you do but find life dissatisfying, difficult, or even unbearable, together we can think about and make sense of what is going on for you, and why you feel, think, and behave as you do, and how you can make any changes you may want to.

I offer a free initial conversation online or on the phone, so please call me on 07908 421 356 or send an email.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Reflective Practice in Organisations (Institute of Group Analysis; Associate member)
  • British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy Senior Accredited Member (BACP)
  • British Association for Psychoanalytic & Psychodynamic Supervision registered member (B.A.P.P.S)
  • Diploma in Supervision (Society of Analytical Psychology)
  • Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy & Counselling (Regents University)
  • Diploma in Counselling Skills (WPF)
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills & Attitudes (WPF)
  • Psychodynamic work with learning disabilities (Tavistock)
  • Art therapy foundation (Goldsmiths)

I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist, supervisor, and trainer, in private practice and the third sector and as a facilitator of reflective practice in organisations.

My past experience includes working in third-sector services, NHS General Practice counselling services in inner-city London, and in private practice. I worked as an emergency counsellor for NHS and Care frontline staff and as a reflective practice group facilitator for NHS covid ward staff during the pandemic.

During and prior to my counselling and psychotherapy trainings, I worked with children and young people with special needs and disabilities, in a residential therapeutic centre for children in care, in an adult psychiatric hospital, and in a centre for women and children affected by HIV and AIDS. I gained my professional training practice in a youth counselling service, London Lighthouse and the Terence Higgins Trust, and the psychotherapy department of a central London hospital.

I go on learning and developing ...there is no end to learning but, in my experience, it gets easier as I grow (older)

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
