Angela J Taylor, BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy, MBACP
Hi my name is Angela. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
I am a warm, friendly and caring person who is passionate about offering you a counselling space where you are heard, held and valued. Life can sometimes feel like being on a roller coaster; climbing towards and experiencing the highs of achievement and elation to the sinking lows of despair, confusion and uncertainty. In the dizziness of the ride we can even forget who we are.
As a qualified Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist (with 3 years’ experience) my aim is to build a counselling relationship with you that is based on safety and trust. I believe that when this is established it is much easier for you, the client to be yourself, and bring the issues and difficulties that are troubling you; whether they are from the past or in the present.
I am particularly interested, and have experience of helping clients with anxiety. I believe that in the safety of the counselling relationship underlying causes can be explored and understood. This can be helpful in determining how you, the client, choose to move forward to make positive changes to your life.
I think it takes a great deal of courage to contact a counsellor for the first time but I really appreciate how important it is to find the right counsellor too.
First and subsequent meetings – what to expect:
So, in our first session we will be exploring more specifically what you would like from counselling and determining, having met face to face if you feel comfortable working with me and if the counselling approach I offer meets your specific needs.
There is no obligation for you to continue and you may also want to go away and think about it.
If you would like to continue; I usually suggest meeting on a weekly basis, but understand that this is not always possible.
Sessions can be open ended; as I will work at the pace set by you, the client, alternatively, we can work for a shorter, more focussed time.
If you have any further questions please feel free to either give me a call or email me. (I currently work from a room on the outskirts of Loughborough town centre.)
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework and the professional conduct procedure within it.
