As a person-centred counsellor, I focus on my client's individual needs and offer acceptance, respect and empathy. I hope that we can build up a trusting relationship, within which you will be able to look at issues from the past or present which may be painful and begin to learn to accept yourself and understand your situation better, taking more control over your life and perhaps making any changes you feel are necessary to make that life a more worthwhile experience.
I believe that many people, whether their problems seem to be destroying their lives or, less shatteringly, preventing them from living life to the full, may benefit from talking with a professional who is not involved in their day-to-day lives and towards whom they owe no personal responsibility.
I work with individual adults, including older people, for whatever length of time seems appropriate to the client. Because of my own mature years, some older clients may find it easier to relate to me.
I also, having spent many years in education, offer a counselling service particularly to teachers.
Because I have worked in global education and with people from all around the world, I offer counselling to those needing to resolve issues related to cultural diversity or racism.
Mostly I see clients at my home address in Wareham, but I also visit clients with mobility or travel difficulties in their own homes or in residential care settings.
