About me

There are often times in our life when we face challenges that prevent us from moving forward and leading a full and happy existence. These can present themselves in ways that are sometimes difficult to understand - with varying symptoms such as depression, anger, anxiety, addictions and low self-esteem, to name but a few.

By sharing these emotions with a trained Counsellor we can begin to make sense of why we behave the way we do. Bringing this deeper understanding and awareness to our lives can enable a shift in consciousness which allows beneficial changes to be made.

As a Psychotherapist and Counsellor my approach is one that will help facilitate this journey with empathy and guidance. I use a range of different methods to reflect the fact that all human beings are fundamentally different. This may include CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Person Centre Psychodynamics, Inner Child Therapy and Mindfulness.

As well as supporting adults I have spent a number of years working with young people and adolescents. I usually work with individuals and couples for an agreed,  appropriate period of time on a one to one basis in a peaceful location south east of Cambridge and 8 miles from Saffron Walden.

If you have been in a difficult situation recently or something from your past has caused particular upset then I can help support your recovery in a safe, relaxing and confidential environment.

I offer sessions in person at my practice or WhatsApp video call. Please contact me through the Counselling Directory site and I will respond to you as soon as possible.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked for over fifteen years in private practice, volunteered as a Counsellor in a young womens hostel and provided counselling at a school in Cambridge. I am regularly supervised by a BACP Accredited Supervisor and abide by the strict codes of ethics required by the professional bodies to which I belong.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
