About me

Hi, I'm Angela. I am a BACP-accredited Person-centered therapist and Solution-focused Hypnotherapist with over 14 years experience of working with clients in a range of organisations in the voluntary sector and the NHS.

If you want to explore how you are feeling in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space contact me for a free 30-minute consultation either by telephone or Zoom. We can discuss your needs and how we are going to work together to build your resilience and help you move forward towards a better future.

I adopt an integrated approach and will tailor sessions depending on the client's goals and preferred outcomes using a range of therapeutic modalities and techniques.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Graduate Diploma in Psychology
  • Level 4 Diploma in the Theory and Practice of Counselling
  • BACP  Certificate of Accreditation
  • Foundation Certificate in Solution  Focused Practice
  • Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
  • CPD Certificate in Autism Masking
  • CPD  Certificate in Using the ACT Matrix
  • CPD Certificate in Working with Anger
  • CPD Certificate in Working with Suicidal Clients
  • CPD Certificate in Grief and Bereavement
  • Diploma in the Theory and Practice of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

I initially began my journey into counselling volunteering as a bereavement counsellor at a local hospital working with clients in a person-centred way to help them make sense of and process their loss. I stayed in this role for 6 years and would consider it my specialist area as I find it a very rewarding and enriching process. To build upon my counselling skills and experience I moved on to work in the NHS as a Solution Focused Brief Therapist - a role which I still do today. I have gained experience of working with a broad range of clients presenting with issues such as anxiety, depression, low mood, generalised anxiety disorder, anger management and many others not listed here. In 2021 I expanded my professional development further by training as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist - this has allowed me to add a broader range of skills to my therapeutic toolbox - I can now offer clients more flexibility in what approach they want to take toward their therapeutic journey - they can have talking therapy/hypnotherapy or a fusion of the two.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
