Angela Gray, Psychotherapist, DC, DCG, DCH, Reg. MBACP.
I am a highly qualified Person Centred Therapist of over 20 years experience working one to one with clients of all ages in a helping and therapeutic capacity. During that time, I have helped many people find their way through their problems and difficulties. I am a member of the BACP, hold their Certificate of Proficiency and adhere to their strict guidelines on ethical practice. As well as being a very experienced Psychotherapist, I am also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I I am an experienced youth counsellor and am available to work with young people aged 13-17 (parent's permission required). I hold an enhanced DBS disclosure. Psychotherapy can be a very helpful way through problems and issues. It is much more than simply someone to talk to and offload problems onto. It is very much an interactive session where I will work with you to help you find solutions to whatever is bothering you. I will provide a confidential space in a calm and supportive environment and together we will work through whatever is on your mind. In my work, I use a person centred, humanistic approach which is caring, compassionate and non-judgmental. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is a useful approach for those who have goals they want to achieve - e.g. combatting anxiety, depression, OCD etc.
Training, qualifications & experience
My career has spanned over 25 years working with young people and adults in Education and Teaching. In 1994 I decided to expand my skills and studied for a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling at Roehampton University. Since then I have become qualified in Hypnotherapy & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and have my own therapeutic practice. My experience and training has included several different approaches to therapy including Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), Humanistic and Psychodynamic counselling. This integrative style means that I can use as many skills and tools as possible in order to help my clients by adapting my approach to suit their needs. Counselling is essentially a talking therapy where the client can discuss their worries and problems in a safe, caring and empathic environment. Where appropriate, CBT techniques of goal-setting and changing thought patterns will be used to make changes that the client wants. CBT is a highly popular therapy which is used by the NHS to treat patients with depression and other times of emotional disturbances. I am passionate about Counselling and Psychotherapy and have been teaching Counselling Skills to adults in Further Education for a number of years.
