Angela Gilchrist CPsychol AFBPsS Consultant Clinical Psychologist
28 London Road
I am an experienced, BPS Chartered Consultant Clinical Psychologist who is also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. I have been a Psychologist for the past nineteen years, eleven of these post-Chartered. I have a wealth of experience having worked in health care organisations in the private and public sector both in the UK and overseas.
I see adult clients with a broad range of psychological difficulties and life issues (please see below). My particular interests are anxiety - including generalised anxiety, panic attacks and phobias; depression and bipolar mood problems; relationship issues and work-related stress. I employ a number of different approaches in my work, including CBT, psychodynamic therapy, integrative approaches and the supportive use of Clinical Hypnosis and Mindfulness.
I am available in Sevenoaks by appointment. Please email me so that we can set up an arrangement to meet. We will use the safe space of my therapy room to discuss your concerns and ascertain whether I am able to meet your needs. There is no obligation to continue after an initial meeting if you should not wish to do so. If your questions are not answered by reading this profile, then please email me and I will do my best to help.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am trained in a number of therapeutic modalities, including CBT and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I am also interested in using Integrative psychotherapeutic methods that draw on a number of approaches. I have trained in Clinical Hypnotherapy and use this as an adjunct to psychotherapeutic work where it seems appropriate, and if the client should want this. Mindfulness and Meditation are particular interests of mine that may be used to help support you on your healing journey.
I am an experienced trainer of Clinical Psychologists, having been employed on the Doctoral Training course in Clinical Psychology at Canterbury Christ Church University (Salomons), for the past ten years. I continue to regularly teach Clinical Psychology trainees and am an examiner on the Salomons course. I also offer supervision to Clinical Psychologists and other mental health professionals.
