Profile
Hi,
My name is Angie.
Taking the first step towards receiving counselling can be extremely daunting, especially if you have never had this type of therapy before. The thought of talking to a complete stranger about sensitive and personal issues can feel scary. There are often lots of thoughts and questions as to whether it should be pursued. Our friends and families can offer us love and support but are often too close to us to really be able to help us. A counsellor, with you, will build a trusting safe environment to help you.
Below is a brief insight into what I can offer you. After reading through my profile, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
I have been trained as a qualified counsellor for 9 years. As well as my qualifications, I also bring many life experiences to the counselling arena.
I have in the past worked for charities dealing with alcohol dependence, bereavement, vulnerable adults and children, domestic violence. Within my private practice I have dealt with a vast array of issues affecting my clients, relationship difficulties, abuse, anger, depression, anxiety, gender dysphoria issues, lesbian, homosexual, transexual and transgenderism (gender identity disorder). If at any time I felt that you needed more specialised help, I would help to direct you to the relevant service.
I am also fully trained in Holistic Therapies, including Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Hot Stones Massage and Swedish Massage. Many clients find these treatments compliment traditional counselling and aid relaxation.
I work holistically within my counselling sphere. Using a Person Centred approach, I believe in treating each person as a unique individual. I do not aim to judge, discriminate or diagnose, but to rather have unconditional acceptance, empathy and respect for my clients. The person centred philosophy believes that we each hold the answers, and to have the opportunity to be truly listened to, answers can be found to the difficulties which may be creating upset, confusion, anger, isolation, frustration, loneliness and grief.
I may, if applicable and with your approval bring other approaches of counselling to a session, this is wholly dependent on the individual and the issues they may bring. I will always aim to tailor the counselling sessions towards the clients needs. As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy I am committed to their code of professional practice and ethics. I hold all information in a professional and confidential manner. I hold professional insurance and endeavor to continually update my skills and knowledge by attending courses within the counselling field.

Fees
I offer a first initial session of 30 minutes free of charge.
This is to have an informal meeting to enable you to ask any questions and explore what counselling entails. Because the relationship between counsellor and client needs to feel safe and secure, this is an ideal opportunity for both parties to sense whether working together will be pro active.
My fees thereafter are:
£35 - 1 hour. Payable at each session
Concessionary fees are available to those on low income, benefits and student counsellors. These are worked out on an individual basis.
