Profile

Accredited member of BACP and UKRCP registered  counsellor/psychotherapist. Also currently working in private practise and consultancy work. I have also worked within the NHS.

I work using the psychodynamic model as a base, which means that part of the work may be exploring past events as to how they may be influencing a persons life in the present.

I have also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which can provide useful ways of working when appropriate.

I feel that it is really important for a client to feel safe within the counselling relationship, and the counselling  environment.

I am able to see clients in my own consulting room, confidentiality and privacy are of utmost importance.

I work at the clients own pace and do both short and long term work.

ABOUT ME

Originally from a nursing background with interests in mental health issues such as, eating disorders.

After becoming involved in voluntary work for BEAT (Beating Eating Disorders) I decided to put to use my own personal experiences and work experiences, and train as a Counsellor/psychotherapist.

Having also taught piano for the past 20 years I am becoming increasingly aware of the healing powers of sound, and music.

The use of the arts whether through music, poetry, and images, can be very profound within the counselling process as a way of exploring thoughts, and feelings, that may otherwise be difficult to express.
