I am a qualified Counsellor and since 2004 I have worked in the area of Psychology, Counselling and Mental Health. My experience range from Head Injuries, Cancer, Learning Difficulties, NHS Mental Health, working with Young People and individuals from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Background.
I trained as an Integrative Counsellor which means I gained skills and experiences in different therapeutic approaches such as Person-Centred Counselling, Psychodynamic Counselling, Transcultural Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. My approach is very much about meeting individual needs and drawing on my learnt skills and experiences.
As an Asian Women and Counsellor life has so far taught me how we can lose, forget, and at times have the inability to recognise aspects of ourselves both internally and externally, I call this the 'unspoken', for example, our Race, Gender, Ethncity, Culture, Sexuality etc.
My work also involves personal growth and development, Counselling can provide an opportunity to explore aspects of yourself and to help bring a better understanding to some of the difficulties you might be experiencing.
As a registered member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I provide a safe and confidential space for exploration and abide by the BACP Ethical Framework. Our work together may include understanding your story and bringing the 'unspoken' into our space and with this comes acceptance and understanding to some of the difficulties you might be experiencing.
Examples of areas I can work with:
- Cultural Issues/Difficulties
- Cancer - whether you have been diagnosed or been affected by a loved one with a diagnoses
