About me

I was drawn to become a counsellor later in life and over the last 20 years I have worked in the NHS, Residential Services, Community Services and the charity sector.

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist.

I work with both individuals and couples. I am qualified and experienced to undertake couples/relationship work of a complex nature. I am COSRT Senior Accredited (College of Sex and Relationship Therapy).

The way that I work is based on my belief that the quality of the relationship we build between us is the key to the therapy being effective.

I am unlikely to sit opposite you in a stony silence, but neither will I invade your space. The time is yours. I believe my role is to help you through the process by creating a safe space in which you feel comfortable to talk about personal and difficult areas of your life.

I work with the issues that you bring, at a pace that is right for you and will support you in exploring options that help you reach decisions which feel right for you.

I can be difficult to decide whether to enter into therapy. I don't lock people into long therapy contracts and build regular review sessions. We start with an assessment session - after this I encourage you to go away and think about how you feel working with me and then decide whether to to arrange follow up sessions. At the assessment stage you will be assessing me, not just I you and I won't 'chase' you for a decision.

If we arrange a session I will send your my Counselling and Confidentiality agreement so you can see my working practice, supervisory support, fees and cancellation policy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I received an Advanced Diploma Integrative Counselling from CPPD (UK) and I am BACP accredited. I have received London Diploma in Relationship and Psychosexual Therapy. I am also COSRT accredited (College of Relationship and Psychosexual Therapy). I have a Health and Social Care qualification NVQ3 for substance misuse.

I am a qualified EMDR therapist and have completed the EMDRworks Europe accredited training.

I worked for 3 years at Kings College Hospital an NHS psychosexual service for women and men providing physical and psychological help for sexual and relationship problems such as lack of libido, vaginismus, erectile difficulties and premature ejaculation.

Until 4 years ago worked as a Senior Practitioner in both Residential and Community services in London. This included Statutory, non Statutory services and GP surgeries.

I now work exclusively in private practice in W6 and Central London (Saturdays only)

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

COSRT
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)

COSRT is the UK’s leading membership organisation for therapists specialising in sexual and relationship issues.

All members must abide by their Code of Ethics and the performance of accredited members is regularly monitored.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
