About me

I have over 20yrs of experience working in the medical profession, and understand the mind-body connection and the impact it may have on our health and well-being.

Stress and anxiety is becoming more common due to the increase in demands society has on us but it can be quickly and easily reduced with a few simple techniques. Once the anxiety levels are lower it is then easier to look at what is happening in our lives to cause this anxiety and work on strategies to change it.

I see each client as a unique individual, with a unique set of circumstances. So with your help, together, we develop a treatment plan around your own specific needs. I integrate my counselling skills with a range of therapeutic techniques tailored to you. These include Hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Matrix Reimprinting, Mindfulness and working with our Human Givens. I also teach skills to enable you to feel more empowered and in control of your life.

I qualified from Southampton Medical School in 1987. Early on in my career I took a sabbatical to study a variety of dance forms and qualified as a classical ballet teacher. It was during this time that I decided to go in to Sports Medicine and Musculoskeletal Medicine. I have worked in Rheumatology on the NHS, and spent 8 yrs working for the Army in a musculoskeletal / sports injury unit. I currently work one day a week in the Musculoskeletal Department at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine.

I soon realised the strong mind-body link when I noticed how patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis with a positive outlook did so much better than those who didn't. Over the years, dealing with patients who had pain and disability, I have become more aware of the profound influence of pain on psychological issues and vice versa. This drew me to studying Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.

Having seen and personally experienced the positive effects Hypnotherapy may have on a variety of physical and psychological issues, and general well-being, I am passionate about its benefits. The mind has a strong impact on our body and health. By improving what goes on in our minds we can improve both our physical and emotional health.

I provide a holistic approach to therapy, that we all require a balanced life style to make the most of ourselves and our lives. I not only look at areas such as diet, exercise and sleep but also assess whether all the innate needs are being fulfilled. If life seems to be rather a bumpy ride it is more than likely that some of the innate needs are not being met.

I have a particular affinity for the performing arts, and empathy for the sports person, being a keen dancer myself, and also playing in an amateur orchestra.
