About me

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I hope this helps to answer some of your questions but please do contact me if there is anything further you would like to know.

Having worked in psychological services within the NHS for over 10 years, I have had rich and varied experiences of working therapeutically with children, adults and families supporting them with their mental health and well-being. I have experience of working therapeutically with a range of issues that one may face during their lifetime. This includes mental health difficulties such as depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress and obsessive compulsive disorder, as well as challenges with confidence and self esteem. I am experienced in working with those adjusting to the implications of chronic health conditions (e.g. chronic pain, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome) and neurological conditions (e.g. epilepsy, dementia and migraine). I also have experience of working with individuals and families adjusting to relationship changes, for example through bereavement, separation, fostering and adoption. I work with both children and adults and am also experienced in offering consultation and training to professionals, both individually and in groups.

My values

I am a warm, passionate and respectful psychologist who places importance on ensuring my clients feel supported to share and explore challenging aspects of their life in a safe and helpful environment. I value working flexibly with my clients and endeavour to work in collaboration with them to select a therapeutic model or approach that they feel will best fit with them. I value the opportunity to reduce the stigma attached to mental health, making sense of the problems or issues that bring someone to therapy in the context of their lives; holding in mind both historical and current life circumstances. I aim to maximise my clients’ internal strengths and resources to support them with overcoming the challenges they face so that they can live rich, full and meaningful lives.

The models I work with

Having trained and worked with a variety of psychological models, I aim to work flexibly with my clients, tailoring the approach to their needs. The main models that I draw upon include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment based therapies including Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness approaches, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Systemic Approaches.
