About me

Some things you may find useful to know about me, while considering me as your therapist.

I am a fully qualified, experienced psychological therapist and supervisor for children and adolescents (CYP) and adults.

I am here to support you in a safe and confidential environment. I can work with a variety of difficulties with compassion, focus and any life goals you may be struggling to achieve.

I have 20 years experience working both within the NHS and in private practice; fully qualified to work therapeutically with children, adolescents and adults. I have worked using both person-centred and cognitive-behavioural approaches and which one I choose to work with will depend on the difficulties you are having. Different approaches work better with particular problems; I can explain more about this when we talk together.

The beginning of your therapy.

The first session or two will involve you helping me to understand your story and what brought you to therapy. This will help us to make sense of, not only how you got to the point you are at now, but also what your goals for therapy will be. This process will ensure that I am offering you what you need from the therapeutic process.

The various difficulties I can help you to overcome.

Some of the more frequent difficulties I have worked over the years are:-

The Family of Anxieties - Social anxiety, OCD, Panic Attacks, Phobias, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Health Anxiety (Hypochondriasis), Habit Disorders (including hair pulling and tics).

I can work with trauma, PTSD, victims of abuse (historical or recent, sexual, physical and emotional) and bullying (adults and young people).

I also work with individuals experiencing loss and bereavement, work stress and change of life adjustment issues. I can also help you to achieve goals like positive habit changes, i.e smoking cessation and weight loss, as I am a fully qualified personal trainer and nutritionist.

Depression and mood swings can also be supported to help people feel more in control of their life again.

A healthy mind is supported by helpful, positive life choices and vice versa; I can help you become more of the person you want to be, or indeed the person you used to be before difficult times got in the way for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified in 3 different modalities - Person-centred counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy.

We can negotiate discounts for block booking if you prefer this method of payment.

Fee per session - £60

We can explore which modality is right for you when we first meet. I will thoroughly explain the difference between these two modalities, so you can make an informed choice.

Therapy is the most beneficial when you engage regularly in the process, so sometimes paying for blocks of treatment can help maintain consistent attendance, which will help you reap its rewards in the end.

Please see my Supervision profile for fees for that service.
