I am a fully qualified and experienced practitioner offering counselling in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
There are times in most of our lives when we experience distressing, sometimes tragic events and feelings which seem to have no end or solution in sight. It is such times as these when we need support. Counselling is a process by which you are helped in a confidential and supportive setting, to gain more insight into yourself, your situation and your relationships with others.
I decided to become a counsellor because I have always had an interest in wanting to help other people. I am friendly, approachable and easy to talk to and have built many previous professional counselling relationships, helping people of all ages, work through problems they are facing in their lives.
I offer Person Centred Counselling integrated with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy on a one to one basis.
Person Centred Therapy will allow you to approach and explore any difficulties you may be experiencing in your life at your own pace. It is very important to feel comfortable and safe with the counsellor you choose so trust can be built and a professional counselling relationship formed. As a Person Centred Therapist I will provide a non-judgmental, confidential and safe setting in which to work together so you are able to talk openly and resolve any issues you may have.
If appropriate to you, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) may be introduced to your counselling sessions. This can help you manage your problems in a more positive way by changing the way you think and behave. It encourages you to examine how your actions can affect how you think and feel.
I work within professional premises where you will always be made to feel welcome and comfortable.
Making the decision to contact a counsellor is sometimes the most difficult part of the self-healing process but once you begin to talk about your feelings and emotions you will realise how beneficial and, sometimes life changing, counselling can be.
