About me

Hello and welcome to my profile page. My name is Amy Cronin and I am a counsellor based in Frodsham, Cheshire. I provide one to one counselling sessions in a quiet, comfortable, private therapy room situated in the middle of the town.

You may find yourself looking for a counsellor for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it can be hard to discuss certain issues with our friends and families or you may feel that there isn't anyone appropriate to talk to. Counselling provides a valuable space for you to explore any issues or difficulties that you may be experiencing.

I am an integrative therapist which means that I can use a variety of counselling styles to best meet your needs. I offer a free introductory session lasting 30 minutes.  This can be conducted either face to face or on the telephone. This consultation is a good chance to discuss what you want from counselling and provides a good opportunity to ask any questions. Following this session, if we decide to work together the approach will be tailored to suit your needs and personal circumstances.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  As a member I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework which sets the standard for good and ethical therapeutic practice.

I have 15 years experience of working in the chemical industry as a Research Chemist and a Project Manager. However, I decided that my passion lay elsewhere and took a radical career change that would change my life. I now work as a counsellor in a local cancer treatment centre, a local hospice and also run my private practice in Frodsham. My varied career history and experience helps me to understand and connect with a wide variety of clients.

I hope this information has been useful and helps you to find the right counsellor for you.  Please contact me if you have any questions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
