About me

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver

We are living through such turbulent and confusing times, it’s not surprising that we’re struggling to make sense of it all! More than ever I find it’s useful to take space to explore my thoughts, feel what is happening and sometimes to simply breathe. Doing that with another person who can be truly present adds another dimension, in my experience, and may do for you too.

I aim to offer a safe space for you to explore whatever is troubling you right now. I often see our struggles as a wake up call, an opportunity to notice, reassess, explore what we want, learn, become and grow, not always easy, but worth the effort.

I work with intuition, compassion and optimism, using your experiences and whatever you find most meaningful and important to light the way. I don't see this as a clinical exercise, more of a genuine human encounter, at its best a meeting of equals, where your experiences and way of looking at things are central to finding the best ways forward. I work closely with emotions, thoughts and beliefs, using these to guide our work together. Sometimes we will look at where you have come from, sometimes where you want to get to, often at where you are right now.

I work from my home in Lenzie, and in the Glasgow Kelvingrove area, depending on which is more convenient, and can offer daytime, evening and sometimes Saturday am appointments. Please see my website or contact me for more information.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing there is a field. I’ll meet you there” - Rumi

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have a particular interest in the areas of developmental trauma, particularly emotional neglect in childhood, complex trauma (CPTSD), transpersonal, existential and relational work.

I am a Daring WayTM facilitator, offering individual and couples sessions integrating the work of Brene Brown, with a focus on shame, connection, authenticity and vulnerability; see my website for more information.

Fees

I offer a 30 minute initial session by phone at no cost.

After that it's £45 for each session, lasting one hour, with some time spent at the end considering future arrangements.

Payment is by cash or cheque, I have no facilities for handling card payments.

Some concessions are possible in situations of financial difficulty. Concessions are limited, so please mention this when you contact me so that I can be clear if I can offer a place at this time.

Supervision & training

I see supervision as a vital and dynamic process, essential to providing both the respectful holding of clients, and to support and care for the counsellor.
