About me

I have worked as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist for over 20 years and believe we all have times in our lives when we struggle to feel happy and satisfied for a whole range of reasons and that with the right support we can find a way to overcome these. I will work with you to help you understand and find your own answers to the problems facing you. I aim to be respectful, warm, welcoming and understanding as a therapist whilst providing supportive challenge when necessary.

I work with individuals and their personal histories/issues whilst also considering their social context.

I work with a whole range of presenting issues, including:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • self-esteem
  • relationships
  • abuse and trauma, including domestic or sexual abuse
  • sexuality
  • cultural heritage/identity
  • bereavement
  • and anything else that impacts your emotional health

I offer counselling/therapy in the Kentish Town/Tufnell Park area (NW5)

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling (2002) from London Metropolitan University
  • Graduate Certificate in Group Analysis (2013) from the Institute for Group Analysis/Birkbeck
  • Accredited and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (2005)
  • I worked as a Counsellor/Therapist in the Education and Charity sector  from 2001 - 2020 and in Private Practice since 2017

I worked as a Counsellor at an Adult Education College for nearly 20 years with people who were returning to learning having often "failed" in the Education system previously or who were upgrading their skills having had time out of work/education. My clients have come from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of issues and I have worked with them both short-term and long-term.

I also have experience as a Counsellor with women who have experienced Domestic and/or Sexual Violence including Childhood Sexual Abuse.

I also volunteered as a Counsellor at PACE, an organisation working with the LGBT community,

I have now worked in Private Practice for over 5 years

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
