Amanda Strang - Psychotherapist (BPC and MBACP)
I am an accredited, registered psychotherapist, with clinical experience of working with individuals in private practice, charities, and the NHS.
One in four people experience mental distress at some point in their lives. This can be in relation to specific life events, such as bereavements, relationship difficulties, ill health, children leaving home.
You may be seeking help for the first time, struggling to manage difficult feelings such as low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, anger, or frustration.
Some people feel trapped in painful and difficult situations in relationships at work, or in their personal lives, and sometimes in repeating patterns of behaviour which confusingly they know to be harmful to their well-being.
The therapy which I provide involves making a mutual commitment to sessions on a once-weekly basis, which take place on the same day each week, and at the same time, in a quiet and confidential setting.
You may find it helpful to view my website which contains further information on how I work.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice.
I provide psychotherapy in private practice, and also for an NHS Trust.
I trained as a psychotherapist at WPF Therapy in London, which is one of the leading psychodynamic and psychoanalytic training institutions in the UK. My training included six years' clinical experience providing long and short-term therapy.
Prior to training as a psychotherapist I trained as a bereavement counsellor with CRUSE.
I am registered with the BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council), the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and the FPC (Foundation for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am committed to meeting the ethical and continuing professional development standards required for good practice by these organisations.

I offer sessions on an open-ended basis, or on a short-term basis where appropriate.
My standard fee for the initial consultation, and subsequent once-weekly 50 minute sessions is £50.00.
I sometimes have vacancies (usually during the day) for people who are unable to pay the full fee.
How to move things forward:
