Person-Centred counselling enables you to explore and make sense of your own thoughts and feelings, with someone who is independent and won’t judge you or presume to have all the answers. As a fully qualified counsellor, I can offer you a safe and confidential environment for you to talk freely about any concerns you may have, and give the time and space you need to discuss whatever may be bothering you. My style of counselling is a humanistic approach, which holds you at the centre of the process: you are the person who best knows you.
The counselling relationship is an essential element of the counselling process, and picking a counsellor who is right for you is important. To ensure you feel comfortable with your decision, I offer an initial 50 minute session at a reduced price.
As a professional counsellor I have experience of working with clients of different ages and from a range of diverse backgrounds. I have a deep personal and professional interest in people, and have a wealth of experience from working in a variety of fields surrounding wellbeing and health. I value intuition and integrity in my counselling work. As well as being a trained counsellor, I am also qualified in a range of complimentary therapies including Swedish massage, Indian head massage, Reiki and reflexology.
For the last 10 years I’ve worked mainly with young adults in a variety of student support roles, including working with students in crisis. I’ve spent some time working with charities to provide activities to reduce isolation and promote positive living. I’ve also run mentoring schemes, and more recently led services supporting emotional wellbeing and promoting healthy lifestyles.
Having had counselling myself many years ago, I saw first hand the value that talking through my thoughts and feelings with a non-judgemental and impartial person could be. It was this that ultimately led me to learn more about counselling, and eventually to train and qualify to work professionally.
I am a registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP), and as such I adhere to their Ethical Framework and professional conduct procedure. I work out of a dedicated counselling room in Whalley Range.
