Profile
I am a counsellor and psychotherapist working with individuals in private practice and also as a telephone counsellor for EAP for education and financial services professionals. I am an associate member of the UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners (UKAHPP) and work according to their code of ethics and practice, and am in regular supervision and personal development as a therapist.
I have particular experience of working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, stress and relationship issues, and with specific life events like bereavement, redundancy, divorce and serious illness.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I trained at Spectrum, the centre for humanistic and integrative psychotherapy for five years, and completed various mental health, art therapy and child therapy courses with MIND, IATE and Place2be. I also worked as a part-time counsellor for 2 years in a Cardiff primary school and with Torfaen MIND in Pontypool.
I am a qualified yoga teacher with the International Yoga Alliance and have run courses and classes in Bali and London. In 2009 I co-founded Slow Down London, a festival across London arts and cultural venues promoting mindfulness techniques and the benefits of learning to enjoy a slower pace of life.
Prior to becoming a therapist I worked for over 15 years with charities in the International Develoment sector, working to deliver health care, education and emergency support in some of the poorest countries in the world. I also worked in communications and media agencies after graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in English.
