About me

I am an experienced Humanistic, Relational Therapist and the way I work is based on Transactional Analysis and I have a Diploma in Relational Supervision, I attended my supervision training in Brighton.
I offer a safe, empathic, non-judgemental and confidential space in which to explore any issues that may be concerning you.

Are you ready for change? Taking the first step and deciding to work with a counsellor in a therapeutic relationship is a big step and you may be feeling apprehensive or nervous. You may have expectations about what counselling is. Together we will take joint responsibility to set goals and work towards achieving whatever change you decide to make.

How do I work?

I offer short term or long term Online therapy.

Our work is always mutual and I offer a confidential space in which to explore previous decisions you have made, and to understand the direction and patterns of your life. Our work together can help you to trust your decisions; and to think and act as an individual improving the way you feel about yourself. Transactional Analysis is a humanistic approach and focuses on the here and now concept. My aim is to be alongside and support you to work with these processes to allow changes to occur naturally.

I wonder if you have had an interaction in which you and the other person ends up feeling bad and you find yourself with feelings of  hurt, anger, sadness and confusion, leaving you asking the question 'how does this keep happening'?
It can be painful and isolating and could leave you feeling surprised, and yet with the realisation that the same sort of thing has happened to you before.
You may be finding life difficult and struggling to 'be' in the world. Perhaps you find relationships almost impossible.

What is Humanistic Counselling?

The main goals of humanistic counselling are to find out how individuals perceive themselves here and now and to recognise growth, self-direction and responsibilities.
This method is optimistic and attempts to help individuals recognise their strengths by offering a non-judgemental, understanding experience. In humanistic counselling the capacity for growth and fulfilment underlies the approach to all clients.

What is Transactional Analysis?

Transactional Analysis is a theory that involves an individual's growth and development. It is also a theory related to open communication, explaining the connections to our past and how this influences decisions we make.
Transactional Analysis was developed during the late 1950's by psychiatrist Eric Berne.
Berne recognised three key “ego-states”  Parent, Adult and Child. The Parent ego state is a set of thoughts, feelings and behaviours we learnt from our parents, caregivers and other important people in our lives. The Adult ego state relates to direct responses to the 'here and now' that are not influenced by our past. The Child ego state is a set of thoughts, feelings and behaviours we learnt from our childhood.
The ego-states are a useful indicator to aid us in our work together for analysing unconscious scripts and identify the recurring patterns or "games" people play.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
