About me

I offer counselling online or via phone.  You may be reading this because you having anxiety and feeling vulnerable. You may be feeling the lack of fulfilment in your life. you may have had therapy before or this could be your first time. Either way I would like to introduce you to myself. I believe that every individual is different and brings their unique life experience to therapy. For this reason, within private practice, I work with clients on an individual basis who may present with a broad range of concerns regardless of their backgrounds. I provide a non judgemental safe space to explore your emotions and difficulties.
Here are some recent reviews from my practise:

“Amali is a thoughtful and caring listener, who asks insightful questions and provides helpful reflections. She combines an approach that looks to understand one's past to contextualise the present while suggesting practical ways to make sense of challenging moments and feelings. Her support and advice has and continues to be extremely valuable in navigating difficult emotions and circumstances”.

“Amali is an excellent therapist. She has the patience to understand and listen to your problems/troubles without any judgement. After my therapy sessions I always feel like a weight has lifted off my shoulders and feel a lot lighter.   I feel and see a massive positive change in me since I started therapy with Amali”.

“Amali provided me with a safe space in which I could work through any issues, guided by her compassionate and gentle approach which made me feel at ease. Amali is a very caring therapist and I felt well supported at all times”.

Some of the areas of clinical interest to me are Anxiety, depression, phobias, low self-esteem, eating disorders, sexual abuse, trauma, Insomnia, and grief. It is evident that individuals may share a number of emotional difficulties across all of these categories, each person bringing an individual story and need as appropriate.

My approach is integrative. That is, I choose to draw from a wide range of available theoretical and evidence-based models in order to meet the needs of any one client at any particular time on their journey towards resolution. In this way, I am able to work with a client within a collaborative and client-focussed paradigm, and to tailor a programme of therapy best suited to each individual. The programme may be subject to change as a client makes progress over time, and subject to on-going review.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
